Back in Barcelona

Tuesday morning we got up and out pretty much as soon as the ship docked, but that was fairly late in the morning (around 10:00).  Once again, Barcelona was the port both kids were happy to get off at.  It was still a really comfortable temperature, so we decided to walk the bridge again.

Coming into town, we were amused to see that Columbus is a Barcelona Football supporter:

We bopped over to the mall over the water again.  Dave wanted to buy a waterproof watch (there is no clock in the Solarium and it was driving him batty not being able to keep track of time from in the hot tub or pool).

On the way back, we got to watch the pier shift to "open" to allow boats to sail through:

We wandered a bit along Las Ramblas, then headed over to The Grill Room only to be disappointed to learn that our favourite restaurant in town was undergoing renovations and closed (for only 2 days, what were the odds)!

Sigh.  So, we walked down the street for a ways and then turned up and headed into one of Barcelona;s many lovely squares:

We picked a random place to try for drinks and snacks.  However, when the one liter of Sangria came out as a giant mug intended for one, and similar "spring break party sized drinks" showed up at the neighboring table, we decided this was not the feel we wanted, so we did not order anything else:

After paying, we headed back the way we had come. The kids had noticed a little hole in the wall pizza place on our way in and wanted to just grab some pizza there rather than try any other random places.  It was a great deal--1.50 Euro slices of actually good pizza, heated in the oven when we ordered (not sitting under a hot lamp) and 1 euro sodas.  They were happy as clams:

We meandered slowly back to the ship after that.  once on board, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the balcony divider had finally been opened (we had given up on it ever happening):

We also had a lovely surprise of a bottle of wine and plate of chocolate covered strawberries with a note from Guest Services thanking us for our patience as they tried to work out the a/c and key issues.  We thought that was particularly nice since we had not even called them at all since the late night call after leaving Genoa--and had just figured that if things did not work after maintenance came then there was not much more that could be done.  We thought it was very nice of them to follow up and even give us such a treat when we had not been overly pushy or demanding (at least, I don't think we were).

After another afternoon of pools and trivia, we had dinner and then snagged good seats in the R Bar, with a nice view of the Centrum stage.  Dave ordered a martini and I had a coke and we enjoyed a REALLY good song set by Amy and Reece.  This is one they put together themselves of Broadway tunes they love--and it really seems to be the type of thing they are MEANT to sing.  It was really, really enjoyable and I highly recommend it to anyone who might sail Legend in the next few months.

Barcelona is a late port--so we were still in port, with lovely nighttime views of the city, when Rio headed up for a "Twilight Climb."  Dave and I went with him to take some photos from deck 10:

I hadn't been fond of any of the dessert options at dinner, so Rio and I capped off the evening by sharing a cupcake from the Cupcake Cupboard.  Mmmmm.

Then it was off to the night clubs for us adults and Optix for the kids, before turning in after a late night of fun.

--Up next, a new room!
